父の遺志を継承しつつ、さらにエレガンスを求める「アルノー・モルテ」が自らの名義でリリースするラインアップ！

故ドゥニ・モルテの長男アルノー・モルテは、2006年、24歳の若さで名高いドメーヌの運営を任されることとなった。メオ・カミュゼとドメーヌ・ルフレーヴで研修。アルノーの時代になり、ワインは力強さと同時にフィネスやエレガンスを備えたものとなり、口当たりはまろやかに、喉越しはスムーズに変化しているのは確か。

2016年より借地契約により加わった4haの畑のブドウから造られる。 ラベルもドニ・モルテの物と同じデザインで、もちろん”ドメーヌ物”である事も含め、名のテキストが違うだけ。 アルノーによるケアを受け、この新しい区画もいよいよ本領を発揮する。

「ジュヴレ・シャンベルタン キュヴェ・ド・トレ ヴィエーユ・ヴィーニュ」は、アルノー・モルテによって丹念に仕事された畑で2年ワイン造りを行った後、ドメーヌは70～120年の樹齢の木が植わっている3つの特別な区画(アン・シャン、コンブ・デュ・ドゥシュ、オー・エシェゾー)を活用することに決めました。それがこのトレ ヴィエーユ・ヴィーニュです。

Aux Echezeaux, Combes Dessus, En Champ. 70 to 120 year old vines, 20 hl/ha, 50% whole bunch in the decorticated style, with the main stem removed. One third new wood. Not the deepest colour, crimson purple, but this is a wine which is all in finesse, like Arnaud’s Ma Cuvee but with a tensile thread that takes it to a higher level, superb on the palate, all red fruit

Mortet's 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Tres Vieilles Vignes is superb, offering up aromas of dark berries, loamy soil, black truffles and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, it's deep and vibrant, with a seamless profile and a long, penetrating finish. For some 50% of this cuv?e, Mortet's team processed the harvest manually, cutting out the clusters' central rachis while retaining the grapes and their pedicels intact.

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes comes from 80 to 100-year old vines on three different terroirs. Matured with 50% whole bunch but with the stems removed, it has a floral bouquet with peony and iris scent fusing with the black cherry and wild strawberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy ripe red fruit. There is a fine backbone here with a bright, saline, lightly peppered finish. Excellent. - By Neal Martin on November 2021
